Whether that is general weight loss through exercise, increasing overall strength and power, training an athlete for their chosen sport or helping someone just make their body better, I have had the pleasure to work with a huge range of clients since 2004.

During my career in the fitness industry, I have also strived to push forward with my own personal development through the years, and qualified as a Level 4 Strength & Conditioning Coach in 2019, as well as becoming certified in Olympic Lifting and advanced training techniques.

I'm very lucky to be based in the beautiful village of Helperby in North Yorkshire, with top class studio facilities in Helperby and Ripon to train my clients in.

Personal Training

It can be daunting starting your fitness journey, but as an experience personal trainer I specialise in creating training programs for your specific goals, and fitness levels.

It all starts with a good chat over a coffee, and a simple mobility assessment, and from there I can ease you in gentle to a tailored program if you haven't done any gym work before. You'll soon find that you are hooked as we develop the program and you can see the results.

If you are wanting to get back into fitness and have trained before, I can help work out with you what fits best with your goals, and provide some alternatives to how you have previously trained for success.

Athletic Development

I've always really enjoyed working with athletes from all different sports, helping them to succeed.

With a long rugby career behind me, I have now retired from playing and for the last 5 years have been involved with Ripon Rugby Club as the Strength and Conditioning Coach ensuring the team is one of the fittest in the league. I have taken individual rugby players through club rugby into County rugby, gaining success with hard work, dedication and structured training.

I have trained marathon runners and triathletes, pushing them through detailed strength and conditioning training programmes to ensure that on race day they're are in peak condition. Using a combination of exercises throughout the week, ensuring that each body part if effectively trained, alongside rest, is so important to reach the peak.

Weight Training

Dave listened to me & what I wanted to achieve. His years of experience meant he knew the importance of strength & conditioning and what was good for me. I started working with Dave in 2016. For me it was the variety of exercise offered and Dave's constant enthusiasm & support that I loved. I can honestly say that without the professionalism & dedication of Dave, I wouldn't be in the physical condition I am today.

Bootcamps & Group Training

There is nothing more rewarding than training a group of people all with the same goal of fitness and friendship.

I've been running the Helperby Bootcamp since 2015 and it has become a village institution! The Sunday morning crowd that turns up week in, week out, in all weathers, have a special bond that is the backbone of the village community which has been developed through fitness. It's a tough workout for sure, but everyone leaves smiling and chatting as they head home for a hearty breakfast. Everyone is welcome to join – its £5, Sunday mornings, 9am – 10am at Helperby Cricket Ground.

I also do corporate group training for businesses in the local area and it's a great way for teams to spend a lunchtime, proven to create a stronger team and a more motivated workforce.

I started my training journey with Dave in March 2019 after a going through a knee operation and recovery the previous year. Dave has coached me on rebuilding this strength and going much further with a tailored strength and conditioning programme. I've really progressed throughout the time I've been working with Dave. I'm feeling much stronger, fitter and definitely more positive.
